Game week is finally here for Notre Dame football.
And no one is more excited then the players, who can finally put 2007 officially behind them with a big performance Saturday at the Stadium against San Diego State.
"Everybody is excited to play,"
sophomore running back Armando Allen explains. "We've been going against each other since the beginning of camp and everyone is really fired up to go against another opponent."
It didn't help that the Irish had to wait a week longer than just about every other team in America.
"We're just itching to get out there,"
junior left tackle Eric Olsen. "Everyone felt the same way, watching the games together in their room."
"We're real excited. It's been a long camp. It's been a long off-season coming off last season, so we're just ready to get out there and make a statement."
For sophomore running back Robert Hughes it isn't just about redeeming last year, it's also about the excitement of getting out there to get a new season started for the Irish.
"This is what you come to Notre Dame for,"
Hughes explained Tuesday. "Gameday in itself is fun."
"You get an experience just walking out of that tunnel--just to get that feeling again is a rush. It provides such a happiness upon you."
The Irish and Aztecs kickoff at 3:30. You can see the game right here on WNDU with Countdown to Kickoff coming your way at 2:30 Live from the Stadium.
